COMMISSIONS

How to Order Directly

Commissions

I operate my Commissions through a waiting list process as I prefer to work only on one project at a time. This ensures each project gets my full attention and I’m not bouncing between different ideas and managing a whole load of different people’s expectations.

I only make 5-8 Japanese Swords per year and around 10 knives per year. Both of these can only be acquired directly from me through my Waiting List, or occasionally via reputable Dealers.

To be added onto the Waiting List requires a commitment of $100.00 which is fully refundable should you choose to forfeit your place on the Waiting List in future. This amount will also be discounted from your deposit when I begin your project.

When you are at the front of the Waiting List we will begin discussing your project and a price will be established. I am happy to work within specific budgets and will happily advise what is possible for your price range. At this point a 50% non-refundable deposit is required (less your $100 Waiting List fee), with the balance payable upon completion.

My pricing includes shipping however it does not include Import Taxes or Tariffs upon entry into your country. I can also handle the payment of these fees for you if you prefer, but this will of course mean additional charges just prior to shipping. I am happy to take it upon myself to ensure that you have as smooth of a delivery process as possible and you have no surprise costs on arrival of your commission. I ship completed pieces almost anywhere in the world via a specialist Art shipping agent and very rarely have there been complications.

While each project is unique and pricing can be extremely variable, expect knife commissions to start at $650.00 and Traditional Japanese blades to start at $2000.00 – $4000.00 depending on blade style. Price can increase from these starts depending on materials used and time involved.

While I will give estimated pricing in US$ for ease of communication with international clients, all payments will be invoiced and conducted in ZAR (South African Rands). I price my works and services in Rands, and then convert it to US$ for ease of communication. This means the US$ value will fluctuate depending on the exchange rate that day.

I accept payments via Credit Cards through payment links up to $1000 in value. Any project with a value higher than $1000.00 must be paid via Direct Deposit. I use WISE for international transfers and this is non-negotiable.

I do not use PayPal, Venmo, CashApp or any other service of that sort and I do not accept cheques.

If you need more clarity or have any questions I am happy to help. If you would like to reserve a space on my Waiting List please get in touch via the Contact page.
